In the month of December, we start to get some very cold temperatures here in Southeast Michigan.
Those cold days and nights will start to form a thin layer of ice at the edges of the small stream and creeks at one of the parks near my home.
During that first formation of the ice, I will find very cool abstract designs happening in the ice.
I'll stand at the edge of the streams/creeks with my camera and zoom lens and photograph these amazing patterns.
The very first formation of the ice produces the best designs. Once the ice thickens it turns white, and you lose the amazing artwork.
Here are my five favorite images.
