How:
As the fall ferns in the forest start to wilt and wither, it can provide the macro photographer with interesting subjects to shoot. This fern is against an old dead tree stump. The curls, textures, and lines in the fern and stump create a unique composition. Because every part of this image is fascinating, I set my aperture stop down to f/32. I positioned the fern starting in the center of the frame at the bottom and let the natural curve flow to the left and back to center at the top.
